… as you walk in the door, the smiling faces of Snooki, Bethenny Frankel, and Lauren Conrad stare at you from their glossy covers on the front display tables.
Of course, if you are a bibliophile you may not know who these women are and you may not care. Or perhaps you’ve screened an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians or you close your blinds to watch a weekly episode, guilty-pleasure-style, of one of the many regional Real Housewives programs. Either way, it begs the question: why are these stars’ books getting the best retail real estate in bookstores when they are emphatically not writers?
