This zombie tale is not for the weak-stomached or faint of heart. Cole holds nothing back and shocks your senses with raw emotion and rampant violence. Set in 1974 (think Vietnam, Cold War, Nixon, sex and drugs), each chapter in this book offers the perspective of a different character: five friends traveling to Lake Tahoe for free love and a good time, a Vietnam vet trying to get home to his daughter, and a creepy cult of hillbillies. While the zombies are definitely inconvenient, the truly frightening elements of this book are the humans themselves, not to mention a world without the internet or cell phones (ahhhhh!).
