The Premier League season 20/21 is quite possibly one of the most anticipated seasons in the past years due to the openess of the league and especially the fight for the title. Today, we analyse this season and now go on to try and predict what’s going to happen in this potentially unpredictable season.
Favourites to win the League Manchester City will take some beating to the title, especially with Pep losing out this year; he’ll definitely be coming back with a vengeance to snatch the title back from Merseyside. The squad that they possess is far deeper and stronger than any other squad in the league and this only points out to me that City we go back to win the title. Current champions Liverpool will want to prove that they are not just a one season wonder in the Premier League and will be desperate to regain their crown. Klopp has seriously motivated his side into a well-oiled machine this season, but can they continue this into the new season? I believe they need to sign a backup striker/winger because the gulf in class from the starting front 3 to the first replacement for any of them isn’t good enough to win the league for me personally.
Manchester United have look like a changed side since lockdown and ultimately since the signing of Bruno Fernandes. Having gained a Champions League against all odds (they were 14/1 at Christmas to finish in the top four!) With a couple marquee signings, including Jadon Sancho, I think United could get back to where they below at the top of the table but they would have to be consistent to close the gap to City and Liverpool.
Finally, the other title contenders for me are Chelsea. Having gone beyond expectations for this season with losing their best play in Eden Hazard and also being on a transfer ban, Frank Lampard is now being rewarded by the board with a large transfer budget – with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner already signed up, and the likelihood of Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell odds shortening every day, Chelsea seriously could be a force in the league next season.
